Quitting director Quentin Tarantino, a few months ago admitted that he wanted to direct the Star Trek movie. It was also finally realized after a few days ago a news mentions that Tarantino has submitted his idea of Star Trek to Paramount and J.J. Abrams. Studio and Abrams who served as producers then approved the idea and ready to advance to the pre-production stage.
Interestingly, quoted from Deadline, Tarantino insists if his Star Trek will be different, he will make this franchise with the concept of R-Rated. Surely this is like 'breaking' the tradition of the Star Trek franchise that always carries the concept of family friendliness and never past the PG-13 rating. But given the condition of the Star Trek franchise that needs a new idea to get back on life, this option seems reasonable.
The joining of Tarantino in actually split the Star Trek fans. For those who contra, the selection of Tarantino is feared to make the story of this film away from the true essence of Star Trek. But maybe there's nothing wrong with seeing what Tarantino can do instead of waiting for another uncertain marvel for this franchise.
While Star Trek continues to move forward, Tarantino will also continue to work on his project to adapt the Manson Family's killing biopic film that created a world of rage in 1969. Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Tom Cruise are some of the big names that enter the radar to join. If the production of this movie has been completed, maybe soon we will hear the next update about Star Trek version of Quentin Tarantino.
